Our Funders

Our work with returning Irish emigrants is made possible primarily through the generous support of the  Emigrant Support Programme of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade

Funders

The work of Safe Home Ireland is made possible through multi-annual funding that we receive from the Irish Government's, Emigrant Support Programme, via the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, without which we could not operate.

The Emigrant Support Programme priorities projects that are in line with the objectives of the Govenment's Diaspora Strategy 2020-2025

We are also thankful to all other project funders, donors and our regular and planned givers who have supported Safe Home’s vision and mission over the years.

“We are proud to support Safe Home Ireland and the vital work they carry out each day. Their role in guiding and supporting those who wish to return to Ireland is invaluable, helping to ease what can often be a challenging transition. Safe Home Ireland’s commitment to supporting emigrants in their journey home is making a meaningful and lasting difference.”

Carolin Callery - The National Famine Way

“My father and I established the National Famine Way, and we are delighted that Safe Home Ireland has walked it in reverse for the past three years, a powerful symbol of their work supporting returning emigrants, particularly those most vulnerable. All emigrants have a deep connection to home and as we watch the amazing work Safe Home Ireland do we think of all our Famine Emigrants who didn't have opportunities like this. We do know that there was a custom of bringing a pocketful of soil for use at their burial wherever they ended up. Last year, my father, Jim Callery, walked the National Famine Way to mark his 90th birthday and chose Safe Home as one of his charities, recognising their vital support for our most vulnerable diaspora. We are proud to support this work.”

Emigrant Support Programme Department of Foreign Affairs & Trade

“Safe Home Ireland is a key partner to the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and as a multiannual partner of the Government’s Emigrant Support Programme, provides essential support to our diaspora in vulnerable or crisis situations and ensures their return to Ireland is well supported and undertaken with dignity.”

Aileesh Carew - EPIC The Irish Emigration Museum

"Safe Home Ireland's work resonates deeply with our mission at EPIC, which is to honour the stories of the Irish diaspora. We've been pleased to support Safe Home Ireland in their efforts, including access to our venue and their participation in the National Famine Way walk, which powerfully reflects the journey of many emigrants . Their work with returning diaspora, particularly those in challenging situations is extremely important"
