We work with a broad range of services, support agencies and consular services in Ireland and abroad, to ensure that potential applicants/returnees are aware of the services and supports offered by Safe Home Ireland and can navigate a seamless referral process.

SPECIALIST SERVICES IN IRELAND AND ABROAD
The Citizens Information Board (CIB) is an independent statutory body in Ireland that oversees and supports the provision of information, advice, and advocacy services to the public. For those returning to Ireland, CIB offers a dedicated 'Returning to Ireland' portal that provides accurate guidance on all aspects of moving back, including housing, social welfare, and healthcare.

Crosscare Irish Diaspora Support Project is a specialised service aimed at supporting Ireland’s global diaspora communities. They offer advice, information, and advocacy support to Irish citizens leaving or returning to Ireland, especially those in vulnerable situations.

Irish Council for Prisoners Overseas (ICPO) provides a wide range of support and services to Irish people in prison overseas and their families wherever they are and at all stages of the imprisonment process.

Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust (KBRT) supports families facing the financial and practical challenges of repatriating loved ones who have died abroad in sudden or tragic circumstances. Founded in 2013 following the death of Kevin Bell in New York, the Trust guides families through the process of bringing their loved ones home as quickly as possible.

Sage Advocacy is the National Advocacy Service for Older People. It works to ensure that people in vulnerable circumstances have easy access to information, support, independent advocacy and safeguarding services in all settings (hospitals, nursing homes, hospice etc).

SUPPORTS FOR SURVIVORS OF INSTITUTIONAL ABUSE - IRELAND AND ABROAD
The National Counselling Service (NCS) provides free counselling to people age 18 or older who experienced childhood abuse or neglect, are former residents of a mother and baby home, or have a medical card. See HERE for more information.
For people living in Ireland, including returned emigrants, Sage Advocacy offer a tailored support service for survivors, you can learn more about that service HERE
For people living abroad, many of the Irish Centres will have specific support services in place, for example, Irish in Britain, have compiled a listing of these services. See HERE for more information.

THE SAMARITANS SERVICE
IRELAND AND ABROAD
The Samaritans provide free, confidential emotional support is available 24/7 for people resident in Ireland and for Irish people living abroad.

INFORMATION ON WELFARE AND SUPPORT SERVICES IN BRITAIN
Irish in Britain is the national umbrella body for Irish community organisations across Britain. Its membership includes over 100 groups and societies that work together to represent, connect, and support the Irish community.

INFORMATION ON WELFARE AND SUPPORT SERVICES IN THE U.S.
The Coalition of Irish Immigration Centers is the national umbrella body for Irish immigration centers across the United States. It supports member centers that provide information, guidance and assistance to Irish immigrants.

IRISH EMBASSIES AND CONSULATES ABROAD
The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade offers consular assistance to Irish citizens abroad. If you need help while you are abroad, you can contact the nearest Irish embassy or consulate.
If a country or territory is not listed and you require consular assistance, you should contact Consular Services.
The Consular Assistance Unit can be contacted on +353 1 408 2527.
In case of an emergency out-of-hours, contact the Unit on +353 1 408 2000.
The Department also provides clear, reliable and up-to-date travel advice for 200 countries worldwide. This will help you to make informed decisions when you’re planning a trip overseas and offers you an objective assessment of the risks you could face. This information is available on their website.
